Dwarf stewartia (a member of the Camellia family) are grown for the light-brown, cinnamon-colored bark, small white flowers, bright orange autumn foliage and distinct long dormant buds.
The fine twigs also make Dwarf stewartia an excellent choice for shohin bonsai and for winter appreciation. Often displayed in winter to appreciate the unusual beautiful bark. Difficult to find outside Japan. These vigorous seedlings have light branching and a fibrous root system which make them excellent for forest bonsai. A true rare find in the bonsai world.
