Japanese Black Pine Tall– "Pinus thunbergii"
Japanese black pines are one of the finest and easiest pine species for bonsai training. They are vigorous with dark green needles which quickly reduce in size with the correct decandling techniques. Rough bark quickly develops as the trees age. The root system has mycorrhizae (white symbiotic fungus) which creates a healthy vigorous specimen. Trimmed several times, a great selection of branches have developed and have shorter needles then normal. These tall specimens, container grown in 1 gal. pots have loads of branches, trunk movement and are ready for serious development into elegant bonsai. Great for club workshops or classes on pine bonsai!
