Japanese flowering quince announce spring with their colorful blossoms. There are many different cultivars of Dwarf Japanese Flowering Quince. In Japan the Red Chojubai cultivar is highly prized for the dark green high quality leaves, small orange red flowers and rough bark when mature. Small fragrant yellow fruit quickly form after the flower drop. Although this cultivar blossoms in spring, they tend to flower from autumn through winter in areas where it is not too frigid. This shohin bonsai, shaped by Wm. N. Valavanis is 7” in height and 12” wide, growing in a Chinese bonsai container.
